I just had to share these photos I took of a car I found parked in my doctors parking lot the other day. It was so weird and funky I just couldn’t help but take a few shots.
this person has either welded or glued all of these items onto the hood and roof of there car.
I’m not sure if this car would be considered street legal.
Today I am going to teach you how to make chocolate covered pretzels.
I used these at my Pirate party, as Peg legs.
Items you will need are a bag of long large straight pretzels, a bag of chocolate (I used semi sweet chocolate chips) and sprinkles or nuts.
Melt your chocolate it a microwave safe container. Start off with a minute and then 15 second increments until it is totally melted. Be careful not to heat to long, chocolate can burn easily.
Using a spoon I would take a couple pretzels at a time and spoon melted chocolate 2/3rd’s of the way up the pretzel. Then I would tap the pretzel in the bowl to remove excess chocolate.
Now take a sheet of waxed paper and lay on the bottom of a cookie sheet. Once you finish adding chocolate onto your pretzel lay on top of waxed paper.
Add sprinkles, nuts or swirl a different color chocolate onto the chocolate dipped part of pretzel.
Continue until you have a complete row on waxed paper.
Once I finished all of the pretzels and the were all layed out. I placed in the freezer for and hour to set. These were a hit at the party and we all love the sweet and salty taste. mmmmm
I decided to tackle part of the beverage last night. So I emptied my ice cube trays last night and put together the ice cubes for my “Beware of Sharks” Punch.
I used Langers Cranberry Plus 100% Juice (instead of the cocktail juice).
Then using the gummi sharks you can find in the candy bins at your local health store. I placed a shark in each cube spot.
I poured the cranberry juice into a measuring cup because it had a pouring spout.
Now you just have to let them freeze.
This morning I broke them out of the trays and placed them in a freezer zip lock bag. Ready for there performance on saturday.
Decor & Atmosphere: Decor is authentic, fun and has a beachy vibe. They had straw hut overhangs over some of the booths. salt & pepper shakers were corona bottles. Booths were comfortable and roomy.
Service: Drinks were recceived quickly. It took about 15 minutes to even put in our order. But we did receive our meals within 30 minutes from sitting down.
Meal 1: Smothered chimichanga with ground beef and a side of chile relleno. Comes with spanish rice, refried beans and sour cream. $12.99
Drink: Raspberry Virgin Margaretta
Review Meal 1: Had chimichanga and chili relleno with green sauce. Good size portion, rice and beans cooked just right with good mild flavor. Two cooked peppers, red and green, garnished the plate. Peppers had amazing flavor and just enough nip, comparable to a banana pepper taste. the chimmi was great, thick and loaded with just the right amount of flavor. the chilli relleno had almost a tamale breading over it and just took away from the egg on the chilli. Less could have been more on this chilli relleno.
Review on Drink: Raspberry Virgin Margaretta was good size and nice taste of raspberry, but tasted more like a smoothie than a margarrita. P.S. make sure they charge you for the virgin and not the whole margarrita.
Meal 2: Fajitas – Served with fresh sauteed veggies. Spanish rice, refried beans, sour cream, guacamole, pica de gallo salsa and 3 warm tortillas $12.99
Review Meal 2: The meat was flavorful and tender, the veggies were green peppers, onions, squash and zucchini sauteed to perfection. I loved the whole plateful. My mouth was in food heaven throughout the entire meal.
This place had a fun look on the outside and screamed to me “come in”, so in we went.
We give this Restaurant 3 Pink Pig Snouts
Located at: 1133 West South Jordan Parkway
South Jordan, Utah 84095
(there is also one in taylorsville and salt lake city)
Type of Food: hot & cold sandwiches, soups and of course pastries
Prices – $7.00 – $10.00 (our lunches were $6.99-$7.99 each)
Decor & Atmosphere: The decor and atmosphere were horrid. From outside you would expect to enter a cute and cozy cottage styled atmosphere. Instead we were assaulted with a confused cacophony of marble walls, industrial vent tubes and bland neutral colors.
Service: Fast, friendly and drink refills were available.
Meal 1: Philly Cheese steak on focaccia bread. Included Lays chips and your choice of brownie, mint brownie or eclair $6.99 drink: sprite $1.99 for large with refills
Review: Bread was moist and flavorful, meat and cheese a bit skimpy. Mediocre sums it up. The best part of the plate was the brownie, which was rich and tasty.
Meal 2: Turkey bacon tomato sandwich on sourdough bread. Included Lays potato chips and choice of brownie, mint brownie or eclair. Avocado was $1.00 extra for a total of $7.99. Drink: coke $1.99 large with refills
Review: Sandwich was very good and flavorful. Two complaints: a) The crust of the bread was very hard and b) even though i paid $1.00 extra for avocado, the portion was a very small slice >^( I chose the mint brownie for my desert and, like the plain brownie, was rich and tasty.
Since the pastries were the true highlight of the meal, here are some selections from their menu that might be worth a go:
Vendor: Want 2 Scrap
I loved this shop. as you will see in my photos i went bling happy. I had so many packages i was up to my chin carrying them around.
they were selling self adhesive bling packs.
they had baskets galore of bling. these were normally $3.00 and they were selling them for $1.00.
let’s say i was a happy girl.
here are some photos from there booth.
this is some of my haul laid out on my table getting ready to be organized and put up.
so to organize my bling better i made piles of the same colors and by overlaying them one on top of the other. as shown
i placed a piece of tape over the overlap area and continued adding until i had a pack of them all taped together.
I grabbed some of my alligator clips
and one of my black grid walls
and using my alligator clips, clipped the packs onto the grid wall. this will make it so much easier to find the bling i want to use. instead of shuffling through a box of them. another craft project for my office. i love to be organized
me and my sister were at the scrapbook use expo 2012 all day on saturday. we received many fabulous items, won drawings and participated in extra fun games.
the dj had games going throughout the day to keep things fun and to give you a reason to get out of your chairs (well another reason then going and checking out all the fantastic deals at the vendor stations)
we watched a race against time scavenger hunt. where the 2 teams (blue and red) had to go to different vendor stations and find there colored circle and beat the other team back to the dj station before the other team collected all of theres.
then we had a tug of war. we did get into this one and got our butts handed to us on the 1st pull. congrats to all the woman that won this even after 4 pulls.
here are a few shots of the action.
then we had a dance contest. they warmed them all up with a zumba lesson. then each stage to be able to stay in you had to receive an item from one of the floor judges.
1st stage – marti gras beads
2nd stage – marti gras mask
3rd stage – u guessed it a marti gras boa.
the final stage they would change up the music every 10 seconds.
i was so proud of my sister she did the change overs so well. think about going from doing moves from thriller to a country hoe down.
Here she is (the 3rd one in pink.. oh course) with the 4 top finalist.
I had so much fun checking out all the cool vendors at the scrapbook expo. click Here
